Basket making is one of the oldest of all crafts. It pre-dates pottery and cloth weaving, and led to the invention of both.
During the morning of this course your course leader Rowena Williams will teach you to identify, collect and prepare weaving materials from the hedgerows and willow stock at Karuna.
After a light lunch (where you will have the opportunity to socialize,, ask questions and take some time to appreciate this beautiful venue) Each student will craft his or her own basic fruit basket made from their collected materials. each student will go home having learnt a new craft, a basket of your very own making and hopefully full of enthusiasm for creating more baskets.
Please bring outdoor clothes and boots, building gloves, a sturdy screwdriver and a good pair of secateurs if you have them. Please bring some vegetarian lunch to share, Tea and coffee will be provided.

Ever thought you could make those plant climbers you see in garden centres? This is your chance.
You will learn how to use the ground as well as a wooden template to weave your very own plant climber using willow and other natural materials.

Come to learn about willow and make your very own plant climber for your garden. Rowenna will teach you how to prepare willow and how to incorporate garden cuttings for you to make more climbers for yourself when you get home. You will take a completed climber home with you.
