Karuna an important project because it proves Permaculture works and is a positive, powerful, solution for our future. I want to believe that despite laws we still live in a free-ish world and people have the right to be different, have somewhere to live and grow, even more so in a place that is similar to an open university of nature and life. (Jean-Michelle Vernay, France 2011).
Having spent the last week living and working at Karuna, I can honestly say it is one of the most inspirational places I have ever had the pleasure to experience. The project is itself a testament to true sustainability. Forest gardening is one of the best ways to remain resilient in the face of the joint challenges of climate change and peak oil. Karuna is a beacon of hope in a country dragging its feet when it should be running; Lucy Langdon (London).
"Our lives can only be lived forward and only understood backwards.
Living a life and understanding it occupy different dimensions.
Experience overwhelms before it can be processed!"
To really know you will always have to experience. There are people who will always try to limit your experience, to keep you from knowing. People have different approaches towards Permaculture. At Karuna people are introduced to Permaculture as an actual lifestyle practice, it's not always easy, but it feels good, and it's such a rewarding experience that makes you feel energetically positive in what you do with your life. I believe that if more people dived into living Permaculture things would really start to change.
Insight Design offers experiential education, a philosophy that informs many methodologies in which educators purposefully engage with learners in direct experience and focused reflection in order to increase knowledge, develop skills, clarify values, and develop people's capacity to contribute to their communities.
